Giving is the BEST gift

Yesterday, Kueffer and his best buddy, Cole hosted a darling Christmas Cookie Decorating party for their preschool friends. It was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday break!
In the invitation, we had made this request "in this season of giving, we will be collecting toys to donate to Operation Breakthrough. If you would like to contribute, please bring a new unwrapped toy to the party."....well, donate they did! We had over 2 large bags full of toys for little boys and girls!

Today, Cole's mommy and daddy took the boys to Operation Breakthrough to make the donation. They were so excited about giving...and it was a wonderful lesson for them. Really, for us all.

Cookie Party!

The day after school was out for holiday break, Kueffer and his buddy,
Cole hosted a Cookie Decorating party!
It was so cute- the kiddos wore their aprons with their names and decorated cookies and 'Christmas Trees' from sugar cones.  The girls were so detailed, while the boys, well...they were 4-5 year old boys.  Let's just say, they went thru LOTS of frosting and were finished decorating in no time!
There were about 20 children, so it was a fun and rompus room...especially after LOTS of sugar!
After they had decorated cookies,
we made special gifts for them to give their mommies, grandmas, ..anyone that they wished.
In keeping with the baking theme, we cut out their hand prints and ironed them on red hot pads.
They were really cute and the children were so proud that they had a gift to give!
The party ended with everyone watching the Grinch movie...hoping to calm them down a bit after the milk and cookies. ;)

The best part of the party was that each child brought a gift to donate to Operation Breakthrough.  They really got it and enjoyed dropping off their special present.

It was a super fun (and exhausting) party...we hope that it's the start of a wonderful tradition!

Preschool Nativity Program

Kueffer goes to a wonderful preschool and we are very blessed to have teachers and administrators that care for all of their little ones so well.
Every year they reinact the story of Jesus' birth.
It is so sweet listening to the children tell the story and see them in their costumes.
At the beginning of the program, Ms. Terri, the director of the preschool started to tell the story,
but let everyone know that Kueffer already knew much of it.
He was singing 'Away in a Manger' softly as she was talking. ;)

 Kueffer's buddy, Cole...the angel! :)

They did such a wonderful job!  The perfect way to remember the reason for the season!

Holiday Fun!

So sorry that I've been absent for a while.  I have A LOT of fun times to catch everyone up.
We've had a VERY busy fall and can't believe that the Christmas season is in full swing.
Today, Kueffer and Mommy visited the KC Holiday Train at Union Station with our good friends and K's best buddy, Cole and Amy.
It was such a fun day and a wonderful way to end this day.

He's back!

Our elf, Biscuit is back!  He arrived a couple of days later than some of the other elves in the 'hood, but he left Kueffer this note explaining why...He was really busy helping Santa with some last minute toy planning.  He did let Kueffer know that he had heard that he was being mostly nice, only a little naughty...so far. ;)  He's been a fun elf so far and has been all over the house in the last week.

Halloween party with the BIG kids!

Last Saturday, one of Daddy's co workers invited us to a super fun Halloween Party!
It was on a farm and there were horse rides, bounce houses, zip line, target practice, lots of yummy food...AND a SCAVENGER HUNT with the BIG KIDS!
Kueffer was so excited to be on a team with the bigger kids - aka. 6 years old and up! ;)

Batman marching up to the party
First stop- cookies!  Batman needed fuel to build all of those muscles. ;)
Target practice with Daddy...yes, it was pretty scary.
 Zip line...Kueffer loved this!

Learning the rules of the treasure hunt.
 and they're off!
 Getting his game his ready!
The batmobile was in the shop, so Batman went horseback.
Kueffer was so excited to meet a 'real' cowboy!
Getting teams for the scavenger hunt
 Developing strategy
He may have been the smallest one in the group, but he obviously had some BIG ideas to share!

It was a super fun party!

Pumpkin Hollow

Well, the Halloween festivities are in full swing in the Dawdy house.
This time of year is so much fun!
Last year, Mommy sent an email to Kueffer's preschool class inviting anyone that would like to join them to come to Deanna Rose Pumpkin Hollow.  It's way more fun to have friends join in on the fun!  Almost the entire class and parents came, so this year we did it again! :)
It was a beautiful (and hot) day for the pumpkin patch!
Here are a few photos of Kueffer and his very active 4 year old friends!
Kueffer and some of his classmates and parents on the hayride

Kueffer's not moving fast enough for Nora.
Ah, just getting his form ready ...that was the hold up.
Fishing/Sword Fighting...poor Little Grace just trying to survive!

Birthday and Halloween prep

This past weekend, Kueffer and Mommy went to Grandpa and Grandma Kueffer's house with Bobbi and Max.  We all went 'home' to celebrate Grandma Mary Ann's BIRTHDAY!
After the boys 'helped' Grandma blow out her candles and ate her cupcakes...
They tried on their halloween costumes!
Max is the 'wild thing' and Kueffer is 'original Batman' - that's what he calls his costume. ;)
Then tickle fight for the birthday girl!
Happy Birthday, Grandma Mary Ann!  We love you!

Another IMPORTANT Prayer

'Dear Jesus,

Please help my birthday get here fast so that I can have an Avenger birthday party at the trampoline place.

I love you, Amen.'

Kueffer was sure to have Mommy include all of the friends and family in her prayers...and of course, himself since he had a cold.  He wanted to make sure no one was left out, but that his prayer could be dedicated to the important birthday party information.
Funny kiddo!

Dear Jesus

Tonight when Mommy was putting Kueffer to bed, we said our night time prayers.  Here was Kueffer's prayer.

Dear Jesus,
Please make my friend Cole better.  He was sick today and had a bad cough at our playdate yesterday.  He was tired and fell asleep. (I told him that Cole had fallen asleep on the walk that we took today.)
Alleluja, Amen!

Then he wanted Mommy to say her prayer.

Dear Jesus,
Please make Cole feel better.  Also, please watch over Daddy and Kueffer and our friends and family.  Also please help Aunt Bobbi feel better before we go home for Grandma's birthday this weekend.  Please watch over Kueffer at gymnastics tomorrow too. (K quickly corrected me since he wasn't sick, but I said you don't have to be sick to be in prayers.)
Amen

Kueffer shouted out the the ceiling 'Hey Jesus, that's me...I'm the kid in the prayer!'...
you know, just to clarify.

Field Trip

Last Friday, Kueffer's preschool class went on their first field trip.  To say that he was excited is a complete understatement!  He talked about riding the school bus like a 'big 9 year old' the entire week!  (not sure where he got the big 9 year old school bus rider reference, but he was convinced.)

The class went to the Beanstalk Garden at Swope Park.  Kueffer said it was GREAT and sounds like everyone had a wonderful time.

Can't wait until the next field trip- maybe Mommy will even go along. ;)

Soccer

Kueffer's playing on a new soccer league this fall and LOVING it!

(Check out how Kueffer intimidates the opposing team at kick off...
sometimes he even breaks out his 'ninja moves'!)

Getting ready to kick the ball in...
Action shot!
All of the parents make a tunnel for 'tunnel time' and each of the players run through after the game.  The kiddos and the parents love it!
(Daddy and Mommy were not exactly sure what was happening at our first game when we heard 'Tunnel Time'...what?)
Daddy telling Kueffer how proud he is of Kueffer after the game.  Ahhhh

Circus time!

This past weekend, the Ringling Bros. Circus came to town and the Dawdys were there!
(No, it was NOT Daddy's idea.)
Kueffer was really excited to see all of the animals and clowns...
but MOST excited about the Cotton Candy that he was promised!
Last week at preschool, the teachers had talked about the elephants that were in town for the circus, so Kueffer was really into seeing the production.  Even though we sat in that last row of Sprint Center- let's just say that Mommy did not realize that THIS was the week of the circus and

didn't realize that circuses ever sell out, really?- whatever-
Kueffer had a great time seeing the tigers, elephants, trapeze artists...EVERYTHING!  It was so much fun watching him!
He loved it!  and of course, loved the cotton candy and popcorn!
