No Coal in Kueffer's Stocking!

Kueffer's first Christmas was a fabulous one! Kueffer must have made the 'nice' list as Santa was very good to him. He did get a bit 'overstimulated' from all of the gifts and camera flashes, but a bit of 'chewy' tissue paper seemed to help!

We spent Christmas Day in KC at Aunt Michelle and Uncle Tom's and had a wonderful time with all of the family. The day after Christmas, we went to Mommy's hometown to see Grandma Mary Ann and Grandpa Bob. We attended a party with our family friends, visited Great Grandma Opal and celebrated with Kueffer's cousins, aunts and uncles. What a wonderful Christmas and we are so blessed that we were all together again this year!

Here are a few of the photos from our fun celebrations!

"....a little round belly, that shakes when he laughs, like a bowl full of jelly!"

Kueffer met Santa last month and, as you can see from the photo, they really hit it off! I am not sure what Kueffer may have 'discussed' with Santa, but I think he was telling him to put Mommy on the nice list and that Daddy was still undecided.
Merry Christmas Eve to everyone!

Do I look sick to you?

Today, Mommy made her first 'nervous mommy' visit to the pediatrician. Kueffer had a rash on his back and, although it did not seem to bother him, we needed to check it out. All is fine and he is as sweet and funny as always!
After the Dr. visit, we visited some of Mommy's former co workers and delivered some gifts. Kueffer loved meeting his new friends!

Hmmm, these look interesting...

Kueffer is still discovering all of the brightly colored packages under our tree. Even though there are many to chose from, he seems to be quite taken with one of Brock's. Also, he noticed a bag of Topsy's popcorn and, once Mommy turned her back, was into it. With his new built in tool, I mean tooth, he was able to make a hole in the bag. Mommy heard some spitting sound and looked over- Kueffer had cinnamon popcorn! Obviously, not a fan though...or so Mommy thought. Once it was back on his level, he went right for it!
Mommy and Daddy can't take their eyes off of him now!

Daddy's Snow Day

Today on Daddy's way to work, he received a call letting him know that no one else was coming into the office due to the horrible weather. Daddy got his laptop and worked from home. Kueffer and Mommy were so happy! As you can see from the video, Kueffer had a great day!

Enjoy and stay warm!

Snooping!

Guess who has discovered the tree?! Kueffer and Mommy spent part of the morning enjoying a warm fire by the Christmas tree. As soon as Mommy put Kueffer down to crawl, he went right for the presents! Sorry, cousin Brock- one of your gifts may be a bit mushy as Kueffer thought it was the perfect teething toy!

Meowy Christmas!

I know that our blog is usually dedicated to the cutest member of our family...Kueffer, but today I wanted to share a photo of the runner up. (Sorry, Matt) This is our cat, Lucy. She is such a sweet cat and lately Mommy has been teaching Kueffer to 'gently' pet her.

The tooth!

Kueffer is very proud of his first tooth and smiles and shows it to everyone! Uncle Clark got a great photo of him smiling and showing off! Each day it shows a little more. Kueffer is chewing on everything, including Mommy's fingers if they get close. Ouch!

Kueffer's first slumber party!

This past weekend Kueffer had his first sleepover! He spent Saturday night with his Aunt Bobbi and Uncle Clark and if he was spoiled before, well...
Aunt Bobbi was the first to give the 'noisy toys' which she generously gave us to take home. :) He loves them!
Kueffer had the best time and I think that they did too. (even if sleep deprived!)

Thanks Aunt Bobbi and Uncle Clark...oh, and Anna too!

And for my next trick...

It was a very eventful day for Kueffer. This morning, his first tooth came in! Later at playgroup, he CRAWLED!!! Can you believe it? He is not even 5 months old yet! Mommy had to ask another mommy at playgroup if it was actually happening because she could not believe her eyes. Aunt Lisa predicted that it would happen by Thanksgiving. We all thought, no way!...well, she was only off by a week. He crawled a little more for Daddy when he came home from work too.
He is on the go now and our lives will not be the same! :)

Kueffer and Mommy watched 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' tonight. One on Mommy's favorite holiday classics! We loved singing along- Kueffer was smiling so big, so I know that he enjoyed Mommy's singing! I am sure that Kueffer will enjoy all of the wonderful holiday tv shows as much as his mommy does...can't miss Peanuts, Rudolph, Frosty, ...Maybe Daddy will learn to like them too!

I missed Daddy!

Kueffer and Mommy went home for a couple of days to visit Grandpa Bob. Grandpa returned home from the hospital last Friday after his 'ankle accident', so we thought a quick visit may help the medicine go down a bit sweeter. We had a great time and Kueffer was very excited to see Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Darryl and Quinten. (Cousin Brock was busy with basketball so we missed him on this trip.)

We returned home today and here are some photos of Kueffer and Daddy. You can see how happy they were to see each other!

It's gonna happen SOON!

Kueffer was up on all fours last night and actually moved forward...yikes! He is going to start crawling very soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kueffer and Monkey go for a walk

Today we took advantage of the beautiful weather and went for a walk. We were so happy to be outside enjoying the warm weather before it gets too cold. We walked for well over an hour and Kueffer did not fall asleep until we were 1/2 a block from our home!
Aunt Bobbi gave Kueffer his new monkey friend, that we all named 'Harley'. He loves Harley!

My Grandpa is Tough!

This past weekend, Kueffer made his first visit to the hospital. Grandpa Bob broke his ankle last Wednesday cutting down a tree, so we went to visit him. Grandpa is doing okay, suffered a compound fracture, but okay.

Last week when Grandpa Bob was cutting down the tree, part 0f it fell on his leg. He had to actually use the chainsaw to cut the tree so that he could get his leg out. He then dragged his leg to the truck to call a neighbor (Thanks, Tom!) to come help him. No, he did not have his cell phone on him...probably will from now on! We all thought Grandpa was tough, but WOW! He IS tough!

AND Kueffer's cousin Quinten broke his foot he same day...left side, just like Grandpa Bob...both were at the same hospital, at the same time...WIERD!

These events make us even more mindful of all that we have to be thankful for!

Here is a photo of Kueffer with his Grandpa Bob...We love you!

"He's going to be a very active baby..."

Kueffer's pediatrician told me at his 2 month visit that he was going to be very active. Then at the 4 month visit, reconfirmed this. Kueffer is 'talking' and rolling over, never wants to stop as there is just too much for him to do! :) He is perfecting the art of the raspberry so we wanted to share this adorable video with you.

He is very close to crawling...eek! He is up on all fours and scooting now...Not sure if Mommy and Daddy are ready for this, but he is not slowing down!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today is Daddy's birthday. Mommy planned a mini photo session, but as you can see, the model was more interested in the bow and his toes than smiling!
Anyway, we hope you have a great day...we love you!
*Note: I had planned some really cute photos, party hat and all...but as most models go, this one was being a challenge. Annie Leibowitz, how do you do it?! :)

Friday, November 7, 2008

Ummm!

Kueffer had his 4 month pediatrician visit on Wednesday. Everything went very well! Once again, Dr. Espe confirmed that we have a very active baby boy- gulp! and that he looks great- duh! :) He has grown 6 inches since he was born and weighs a healthy 15 lbs. 12 oz. The Dr. said that Kueffer can now have rice cereal. I don't know how I feel about this...this is a sign that he is becoming a 'big boy' and Dr. Espe could tell- said that they seem much bigger than a baby once they start eating 'real food'. Sigh...

So...we introduced Kueffer to rice cereal mixed with diluted apple juice last night. He did not really go for it. Lots of 'yuck' faces! Today, I tried again. Seemed much more into it today. Okay, so maybe he was more into the 'cool spoon', but whatever! He did a bit better- definitely wearing more than was eaten. Perhaps the timing of learning how to 'raspberry' along with learning to eat was not the best...

New Friends

We are so excited- One of Mommy's college friends and her family just moved from SF to KC! Kueffer and I went to welcome them to our town this afternoon and had such a great time catching up.

Even though we had lived so far apart and lost touch over the last couple of years, we are finding out how much our lives are the same. Kueffer was born 2 weeks after their little boy, Brodie. I can't wait for them to become great friends...here is a photo of the new playmates.

Election Day!

The 2008 Election Day is only hours away ...so exciting! In Kansas, we can cast our ballots early so Mommy and Daddy have already voted. Kueffer just wants to remind everyone to get out and vote. No matter what your party affiliation, this is a very exciting and history making election. Please exercise your right as an American and vote!
*okay, so he does not look that excited in the photo- trust me, he is! :)
