Back to School

Kueffer started his first day of 4 year old preschool today. 

It's hard to believe that he is getting so big!

It wasn't the smoothest running morning- perhaps not something that Norman Rockwell would've painted...okay, definitely not.  Of all of the 'challenges' that Mommy thought may have presented that morning, didn't realize that UNDERWEAR would be such a big issue.  ugh! 

Kueffer got some super cool spiderman underwear from Aunt Bobbi last weekend and,

unknown to Mommy, that's what he wanted to wear.  oops. 

After he discovered those were not available (in the laundry), it was not pretty.

Eventually, Mommy and Daddy did get him in the car and on the way.  It wasn't pretty, but it happened.  Took more convincing, but finally some photos were taken.  whew....

and he walked happily into class to see Miss Julie and Miss Julie and all of his friends. 

 

 

fyi- no goodbye tears were shed by Mommy, Daddy, or Kueffer!

Last weekend, Kueffer went with Grandpa Bob and Grandma Mary Ann to visit Uncle Clark, Aunt Bobbi and Max. He had so much fun playing with his buddy, Max. He also loves playing on all of Max's fun ride on toys. Uncle Clark had to go find a helmet as K was riding down this big 'rock hill', or 'mountain' s Kueffer called it, on the 4 wheeler.

This summer one of our local outdoor malls hosted outdoor concerts every Thursday night. Luckily on 'Mr Stinky Feet' night, it was finally cooler outside, so Mommy took Kueffer and his friend Bo. They were really great concert goers and even part of the kiddo mosh pit! ;) Several children were selected to be part of the band and Kueffer was picked! He had a great time and took his role very seriously...our little musician!

The Three 'Mc'Musketeers!

Mommy decided it would be a great idea one day to take Kueffer and his friends, Cole and Bo home from Bible School. (yes, you read correctly...TWO friends!)
First stop, McDonald's for lunch.
Not sure how many times people approached and said 'good luck'!
Then on to the pool...it was a fun day, even for Mommy...exhausted, but fun!

Camping, Kueffer style

 

Aunt Lisa and Uncle Darryl gave Kueffer a backpack, flashlight, and sleeping bag for his birthday.

He was ready to go camping.

Even in the 100+ degree weather, he was ready to sleep under the stars.

Everyone else, not so much...maybe this fall.  maybe.

Kueffer even swims in the tub. Recently he was in the 'Olympics' swimming a very long race- to the end of the tub AND back...whew!
Daddy and Mommy were proud of our 'Gold Medalist' as he won HUNDREDS that night!

Where have we been?

This summer was FUN and I guess that the Dawdys were having so much fun, there was no time to blog.  Sorry!

I promise to bring everyone up to speed, but here are a couple of fun things that we did in July.

 

We went to San Antonio!

Okay, not many photos, but our little family had a great time in San Antonio and Austin. Mommy and Kueffer spent the weekend with Daddy and left on Monday.  Daddy had to stay the rest of the week for work.

 We rode the boat down the riverwalk...doesn't K look thrilled!

Kueffer did discover the Shirley Temple and LOVED them!  He ordered one every night at dinner.
 

We then celebrated Kueffer's BIG 4th Birthday with a party...yes, that get's it's own blog post!

and then...went to Memphis!

 

Kueffer seriously morphed into a fish, or shark as he would say,this summer.  Our friends in Memphis have a pool and K was in it almost every waking moment that we were there. 

Spent 7 1/2 hours in the pool one day...seriously, a FISH!

 



Aloha!

It's been a while and we have missed you!

It's been a VERY busy and VERY fun summer.  Kueffer has been involved in swimming lessons, tennis lessons, kids day out, soccer and camps...whew!

Earlier this summer, Kueffer attended a week long music camp at Key of See.  It was too cute!  The theme each morning was 'I Love America!' so each day they learned a new type of American music- Western, Broadway, Jazz, and on the last day...Hawaiian! 

There was a special guest- Miley and she was a REAL hula dancer! 

Each child learned how to hula and as you can see, Kueffer and Cole were very taken with her. :)

Daddy and Mommy can't believe Kueffer is FOUR YEARS old!

Recently Mommy and Daddy have found this when checking on Kueffer before going to bed...

yes, he is taking his pillow out of the case and using it as a sleeping bag!

It's HOT outside!

Even 3 year olds need a spot in the shade on a hammock with popsicles to cool off on these HOT days!  whew!

Rootin, Tootin Cowboy!

This week it was 'Cowboy Day' at Kids Day Out and our little 'cowpoke' was ready to go!  He had his outift ready- complete with pirate shirt!  He even loaned out a cowboy hat to his friend, Cole!  He had his swagger and was going around the house sayin' he was the 'rootin', tootin' cowboy...well, this mommy didn't mess with him!  too cute!

 For Soccer!

This year Kueffer is a 'Red Rhino' and had his first soccer match last Saturday.

Wow, it's amazing how much he's matured in a year!  We decided to pass on soccer during the school year- and even at the first game, he really GOT IT!  He was such a great team player and was excited for the other kiddos that scored goals, got the concept of the game AND even SCORED A GOAL!  Yeah! 

It's going to be fun watching him play with his friends this summer!

Fun on the Farm with Grandpa

Kueffer and Mommy have been visiting Grandma and Grandpa down on the farm quite a bit since school has been out.  Kueffer LOVES all of the fun things that he can do with his Grandpa! We've even timed it right a to get to see Uncle Darryl, Aunt Lisa, Quinten and Brock too!  There are so many fun things to do like ride on the tractor, go fishing, and exploring. 

Can't wait to get back soon!

Happy Daddy's Day

Our little fish- or as he would say 'shark' LOVES to swim! He's really pretty good and actually swimming.
This weekend, Kueffer got a new Spiderman swim mask and snorkel...and he could not wait to try them out...even in the tub!

Dr Espe

Recently a sweet classmate of Kueffer's got glasses. So on our last couple of trips to Costco, Kueffer has ran over to the optical department and started trying on the glasses. Each time he will put on a pair of glasses and say 'Look, I'm Dr. Espe!'.
Kueffer loves his pediatrician and I can't wait to show Dr. Espe his 'mini me' when we visit for K's 4 year check up.

Last Day of Preschool 2012

Kueffer's last day of 3 year old preschool was a couple of weeks ago. 

It was such a fun year and we made so many new friends! 

One of Kueffer's teachers, Miss Patty retired this year after 25 years of teaching at Village!  We will all miss her so much.  On the last day, all of the kiddos greeted her at the door with a flower and she ended up with a beautiful bouquet that the children created.  The class also gave her a very special print that read 'A Teacher effects eternity- she can never tell where her influence stops' The Village Preschool 3 year old class 2012'  She was touched.

Art Show

Friday night was Kueffer's preschool art show.  Grandma Karen, Mommy, Daddy and Kueffer all attended to see the wonderful art from some of the MOST talented preschoolers in all of Prairie Village...okay, probably all of Kansas City!

We saw Kueffer's work of art- the butterfly and then walked around to observe and mingle with everyone. 

Then, Daddy and Kueffer spotted it.  The CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN!  Wasn't too hard to spot we then noticed all of the kiddos with chocolate hands, faces, clothing.  Soon K was one of those kiddos and loved it!

Sorry for the lame Hee Haw reference, but Mommy's from California, MO and that was prime tv watching at my grandparent's house! ;)

This past Saturday, Daddy planned a very fun family outing for us!  yes, you read correctly...DADDY planned the outing.  Kueffer, Daddy and Mommy ventured to a strawberry patch outside of Lawrence and met some friends to pick some yummy strawberries!  It was hot, but we loved picking and sampling...definitely sampled quite a few...but picked 9 1/2 lbs in a very short amount of time!

It was so much fun and we've been enjoying strawberries and sharing them with friends all weekend!
