Valentine Party

Last week Kueffer and his friend, Lauren hosted a little Valentine Craft playdate for a few of their school friends. It was so cute watching all of the kiddos play together and so much fun for the parents getting a chance to chat.

There were some fun crafts planned- but as with most things planned with 3-4 year olds, the execution was not that great. ;) They all decorated cookies and ate lots and lots of yummy sweets- yay!

Robot Kueffer

The other day while driving down the street, Kueffer started talking in 'robot' saying 'Kueffer want candy!'
Apparently this is a new language he has developed complete with arm motions and 'robot walk'. Throughout the days, he will suddenly turn into 'Robot Kueffer'.
Funny kid- definitely keeps us laughing!

Note: Also, he's been ending things with 'Hallelujah, Amen!'...of course for the video, he said 'cheese!'. You never know what he's gonna say!:)

Winter Bike Ride!

Kueffer and Mommy are LOVING this winter weather! The snow will probably come soon, so we are enjoying all of the time that we can outside now.
Kueffer has gotten so good at riding his bike. He even fell off of it- eek, his first bicycle accident- on this ride, but he caught himself. After a little pep talk from Mommy, he hopped right back on and rode away. Whew. He was so proud of himself for catching his fall. Mommy was so proud that he got right back on and sped away.

Kueffer went for his 2nd visit to see his dentist, Dr. Smith this week. He did an AWESOME job- no worries as he had 'pictures' taken of his teeth (x rays), got his teeth counted and polished and flossed. He had a great time and his momma was soooo proud!

that we took a fun trip to Florida last fall? Well, we did! Looks like we will have to share some pics from our warmer (albeit rainy) days in 'Sunshine State'.

We enjoyed 1 1/2 days of beautiful sunshine and took total advantage of those days. Kueffer REALLY loved the water and would wade neck deep ...

probably would have gone farther if Mommy and Daddy would have let him try.

Each time he saw a dolphin, he would say that he 'wanted to ride a dolphin'!

Baby Gators...we didn't stick around too long waiting for Momma. Yikes!

We had a FABULOUS time and can't wait to go back again!

Over the holiday break, Kueffer attended a 'winter camp' during the afternoon with a friend. He had such a great time.

Okay, so sorry for the extended blogging break. Mommy's computer finally gave out and with the holidays, getting a new one up and running took a bit longer. We hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and are enjoying your 2012 so far. We have had a BEAUTIFUL beginning to the year and have been soaking up the sunshine...IN JANUARY!
We will be sure to bring you up to date with all of the photos and stories of our holiday celebrations hopefully this week....may even back date a few as this blog is our 'baby book' for Kueffer- so yeah, Mommy will cheat a bit on it. Oops! ;)

Christmas at the Funny Farm!

On Christmas day afternoon, Daddy, Mommy and Kueffer hopped in the car and drove to see Grandma and Grandpa Kueffer and the rest of the family. It's always a fun time in Cal-MO and Christmas is particularly crazy! :)

Christmas night, we went to the BIG Kueffer family celebration. After 7 + years of being around the family, Matt still can't keep everyone straight! It's a BIG family with lots of kiddos and that means lots of fun when we're together.

The next morning, it was PRESENT TIME! Santa must have gotten the message from Grandma and Grandpa that we were really good this year. We joke that our little family of 3 needs a bigger SUV every year just to bring the gifts back! Kueffer and Max kept everyone entertained- and they loved playing together.

The next night, more celebrating with the Allen family. Always fun and Kueffer loves playing with even more of his 'friends'.

Whew! It was a fun whirlwind - can't believe it went by so fast!

Christmas Eve

The Dawdys definitely started off the Christmas weekend right as our Christmas Eve was so much fun! Daddy, Mommy, and Kueffer attended Christmas Eve

services at our church. It was a packed house.

Kueffer was obviously very tired and the beautiful music soothed him right to sleep.

He took a little 'power nap' (he even says that!)

and was full of energy and excitement and ready for Grandma Karen's house!

Grandma prepared a beautiful and YUMMY dinner for us.

After dinner it was PRESENT TIME! Grandma must have thought that Kueffer was a very good boy this year as she gave him THIS!

Do you think he likes it? And it's SPIDERMAN!

The adults must have been pretty good this year too.

Reindeer Food

On Christmas Eve, Kueffer sprinkled 'reindeer food' out on the lawn so that Rudolph and his gang would be able to spot our house.

He wanted to make sure that the reindeer got lots of yummy food while Santa was unloading all of his gifts that night.

Before Christmas, Kueffer and Mommy decorated this yummy looking gingerbread house. K did most of the decorating and, um, tasting while Mommy just tried to keep it from falling over.
We were pretty proud of our 1st architecture acheivement...

and Kueffer was excited to lick the yummy icing after. ;)

Santa Train

Couple of Saturdays ago, Daddy, Kueffer and Mommy took a ride on the SANTA TRAIN!

It was really cute. We all traveled down the tracks on an old train decorated for Christmas.

And SANTA rode with us!

We were served hot chocolate and cookies and sang carols.

Kueffer loved singing his favorite songs and even had the winning answers to a trivia question by naming one of Santa's reindeer...

He actually knew which one was not said and got it right! (He's his Daddy's son alright!)

He really hammed it up by wearing his flashing red nose...Santa loved that!

After the train made it back to the depot, Santa talked to all of the children and gave everyone a special treat.

We had a great time and it was a fun way to kick off the Christmas season!

Breakfast with Santa

This year we attended our annual Breakfast with Santa...yes, after Kueffer's 2nd year attending, Mommy learned her lesson and only subjected him to one event each year.

As you can see, Kueffer LOVES Santa! This year he really GOT IT! Kueffer knows that Santa=presents, so he was all smiles for the big fella.

He was also 'all business' and made sure Santa knew exactly how good he had been and what was on his list! (yes, looks like Santa may have fallen asleep as K went on and on with his list)

Preschool Sing A Long

Yesterday, Kueffer's preschool hosted everyone for a holiday sing a long. It was so cute watching all of the kiddos as they were singing and dancing ...and showing off a bit...for their parents and grandparents. Kueffer was so excited to have Daddy, Mommy and Grandma Karen there for him!

Earlier that day, Mommy was the guest in Kueffer's classroom. It was so much fun watching all of the children interact. Mommy got to play, eat snack, learn the 'ABC prayer'

and even joined in a dance party!

He's BACK!

Last year, 'Elfie' came to visit Kueffer and make sure that he was being a good little boy for Santa.

Mommy and Daddy were tempted to ask Elfie to stick around all year as Kueffer was on his best behavior while he was here!

This year, Elfie sent another co worker elf, Butterball!

(Yes, Kueffer's name this year is a bit more original, but not that flattering. Luckily, Butterball has a healthy self esteem and isn't offended. ;)

Actually, his name started as Butter Biscuit and evolved to Butterball.)

Each day, Butterball observes Kueffer's behavior and reports back to Santa at night. He's a pretty mischievious elf and had gotten into K's yummy marshmallows one night. The next day he brought a treat to reward for the great day before. Word on the street is that he's bringing a report card from Santa this week to let Kueffer know how he's doing so far...and maybe some tips on areas that he needs to work on. ;)

Turkey Day Fun

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving day with family!

Lots of great food, good conversation, and FUN! Kueffer and Daddy even played a little football.

K may have been the smallest- but he was FIERCE! Uncle Brad couldn't escape getting tackled- again and again and again! :) Daddy was a great coach for the boys. Huddling in to come up with their winning strategy! ;)

We have so much to be thankful for!

Here are just a few of the things that I am thankful for this thanksgiving...

*Hearing Daddy and Kueffer doing 'British' accents..."Jolly Good, Sir!"

*Our nightly rituals of hugs, rub noses, butterfly kisses (even though Kueffer tells me EXACTLY how to do butterfly kisses every night!)- and the latest, spider man hugs, spidey kisses and super hero flights to bed!

*Love hearing Kueffer and Daddy's stories/puppet shows thru the bedroom door after I leave Kueffer's room at night. Yes, I get kicked out as it's 'boy's only'! ;)

*Kueffer's 4897 questions he asks every day! I read somewhere that the average 4 year old asks 437 questions a day. Looks like he is WAY ahead of schedule!

*Our WONDERFUL family and friends! We are truly blessed to have such a great family and group of friends in our lives.

We hope that all of you have a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving!

Daddy, Mommy, Grandma Karen and Kueffer went to our annual Halloween celebration today and once again, it was a GREAT time!

We were one of the first to arrive and of the 6 kiddos that were there at that time,
3 were SPIDERMAN! Yep, looks like it's going to be a pretty safe place around here on Halloween.

Mommy likes to think that we are 'on trend'-
obviously, Spiderman is THE costume this season!;)Ask a 3 year old high on candy and cookies to take a picture and this is what you get...and this!hmmmm...which disgusting thing can I touch first?
By the way, he did this several times. Yay!

Preschool Pumpkin Patch

Kueffer and Mommy joined Kueffer's preschool class at Deanna Rose Farm for a Fun Friday! Mommy sent an email to the classes asking if anyone would like to join them

and 25+ parents and preschoolers came! Mommy had a great time meeting so many of the other
parents and we all loved watching the kiddos play together. Kueffer and his friend, Cole

We were there for almost 4 hours- well, some of us lasted that long.Kueffer and Lauren (aka Jessie!) still going strong after ice cream!

It was such a beautiful day and we can't wait to get together with our friends again.

Visit to Iowa

Last month we road tripped for a weekend in Iowa with Grandpa Bill and Grandma Evva. Kueffer remembered the visit from last year and went right for the toy room inside and the jungle gym in the backyard!

The weather has been BEAUTIFUL lately so we have been taking advantage of it and playing outside anytime that we can. Today, Kueffer and his little friend Cole went to the park after preschool. Kueffer has become a total 'dirt magnet' and if there is dirt around, he is in it! I swear when Mommy picks him up from school, he is the messiest looking kid in class. Mommy has had to 'retire' almost every top he's worn so far.
Kueffer' s favorite expression lately is ' I LOVE to get FEEL-fy (filthy)!' and he means it.

Kueffer and Daddy's talk about 'God'

The other day, Kueffer and Mommy were driving to the park when Kueffer said 'Daddy said that God is everywhere. He said that he is in our house, at school, in the car, and he REALLY likes peanut butter!'
The night before when Daddy and Kueffer were reading books, Kueffer picked out 'The church is a special place' book to read. He received this from our church when he was ready to move from the nursery to Sunday School and every once in a while, Kueffer likes to read it. That night, Daddy and K got into a deeper discussion as Kueffer was asking lots of questions like 'who is God?'. I am so glad that Daddy could tell him all about it and Kueffer really got it. I just love how his mind works...not sure that Daddy mentioned the whole peanut butter thing, but I'm sure God is okay with peanut butter too!

Graduation

Last Tuesday night, Kueffer graduated...from the Shawnee Mission School District Parents as Teachers program. It was so cute to watch as each little 3 year old was called to the stage by their PAT coordinator and get their 'diploma', graduation cap and gift. Kueffer was the second child to be called to the stage by Miss Janet and he did such a great job. He let her put the cap on and stood like such a big boy accepting his applause from the crowd- seriously.

After the ceremony, he couldn't wait to hug Miss Janet. Well, he actually hugged another coordinator too- feeling pretty special, I guess.
I can't believe that our little guy has already graduated. Ah, the milestones just keep coming!

Kueffer was 'saving the day' the other morning, so mommy caught a few photos. When I asked him to smile for the camera, he replied 'Super Heros don't smile.'

He wore his cape to preschool that day and when his teacher said 'Good Morning, Kueffer', he said to Miss Julie, 'I'm not Kueffer, I'm Super Kueffer'!

Silver Shark Attack!

Kueffer's first real soccer game was last Sunday,
although I'm not sure that that players were aware of it! :) His team this fall is the 'Silver Sharks'. Much more tough than the Blue Whales of last spring- obviously more cut throat than the 2 year old division!Kueffer going over his 'strategy' with the team!

According to Kueffer, he scored a goal - not sure for what team as they were usually running in the wrong direction. And he was very bummed when another little boy scored- apparently Daddy and Mommy need to work on team work. He did have a great assist to a teammate too.

The game ended after the littles were taking MANY water breaks- an hour is a long time especially on a hot day like Sunday- and the score was even, I think.

Way to go, Sharks...even though your team only had 4 players and the other team had 8,
you did a great job!

Super (Hero) Sunday

A couple of weeks ago, Daddy, Mommy and Kueffer went to the KC Zoo to meet
...SPIDERMAN!!!

Because we seem to time everything perfectly, when we arrived, our super hero was on a much needed break. ;) Daddy and Mommy took turns saving our place in line. While we were waiting, Kueffer finally got to see Nikita the polar bear swim...it was so cool! We all may have risked our lives to take a short dip with Nikita as it was SO HOT that day!When the time finally came, Kueffer was thrilled to meet SPIDERMAN!

Spidey was a really good sport too and chatted with K and posed for pics. K had A LOT to tell him Spiderman hug!

Thanks, Spiderman...too bad that Batman was off fighting bad guys that day and could not join you. (That's what Mommy and Daddy told Kueffer when he asked. )

First Day of Preschool

Today was Kueffer's first day of preschool!It's hard to believe that our little boy is big enough to start 'school', but he was definitely ready!
Kueffer is attending Village Preschool.This is the same preschool that Daddy went to many, many years ago. ;)He was excited to go today and we all actually arrived early,
so we were able to get some cute photos of a very excited little boy!Once we made it to the classroom, he was gone.
Not sure that he even said 'good bye'...He was ready to start having some fun!This was 'Mommy's view from the door- K is already in the back playing with a new friend!

Preschool Playdate!

Last week, Kueffer and Mommy went to the park for a playdate with some of Kueffer's new preschool friends! We thought it may be nice to get to know each other a bit before the 'Big Day' next week. All of the kiddos got along so well and it was nice to meet the mommies too!

K's first 'Rock' concert

A couple of weeks ago, Daddy, Mommy and Kueffer went to a 'Kid Rock' show. No, not Kid Rock, but kiddie rock...we went to see the Doo Dads at a bar. It was early for the toddler and parent crowd. About mid set, Kueffer really started to get into it- rocking out to 'I'm a little airplane', 'Potty song' , ....yeah, you get the picture.
They were actually really good. Word on the street is that they were former punk rockers that got married and had kids. Funny how children change everything- for the better. :)

T Rex Cafe

I know that this is a little late (Okay, really late...) but here goes...

On Kueffer's 3rd birthday, Daddy and Mommy took their little dino to T REX CAFE for dinner. He LOVED it! It was a pretty fun place for any dinosaur lover with lots of creatures everywhere and a 'meteor shower' occurred every few minutes to make the experience even more exciting.

Dinosaur Expedition

This past weekend, Daddy, Mommy and Kueffer visited Powell Gardens for the Jurassic Garden exhibit. Kueffer LOVES dinos and we had planned to go all summer- well, summer is ending and this exhibit was ending Sunday, so now was the time!
**Although, when we drove into the parking lot, Kueffer fell asleep. It could have gone really good or really badly, but Mommy woke Kueffer saying 'Kueffer, do you want to go see some dinos?' and he woke up so excited and couldn't wait...whew!**

Upon entering, we spotted a KUEFFER- ASAURUS!

He followed the tracks and even helped Daddy read the map! He was so cute saying 'hmmm, let me check the map' and 'we need to go here' like he could actually read it. ICE CREAM!

This boy really knows how to enjoy some ice cream! We've enjoyed lots of it during our hot summer. The other day, Mommy drove for some soft serve for K...he wanted vanilla ice cream- specifically in a cone! In the short ride home, he managed to wear/eat the entire thing...well, not the cone. Recently he has insisted on a cone, but won't eat it. Mommy thinks Kueffer thinks that it's the 'big boy' way to eat ice cream!

Kueffer has been invited to TWO play dates in the past week. While this is not unusual, with these 2 'dates' he is the only boy! These are little girls that were in his summer PDO group and they were getting together and wanted Kueffer to be there! At the first playdate, one of the dads said 'Oh, so this is Kueffer? I've heard so much about him!" Then the other moms said that K was the only boy that their little girls ever mentioned.
Mommy should have picked up on this at pick up when he would be playing cars with all of the boys, but the girls would give him 'goodbye hugs' before they left.
Are we in trouble or what? :)

A couple of weeks ago was Kueffer's last soccer clinic for the summer.

It was so much fun watching him learn and really like soccer!

It's been a month since Kueffer's BIG 3rd Birthday Party and

Mommy is finally getting around to sharing all of the fun details!

Kueffer wanted a Dino Dig party so Mommy and Daddy had so much fun helping to plan an exciting party for our Big Boy!

Since it was soooo hot outside, Daddy found and put up a Dinosaur pool for the kiddos to keep cool outside. K already putting his new fishing pole to use in the pool!

There was a dino dig for the 'young archeologists' - complete with pith helmets!

We are all having so much fun that we almost forgot about CAKE and Cupcakes!

Shark Week

Well, actually 'Shark Summer' in our case.

Kueffer has been taking swimming lessons with his little friend, Lauren all summer and has had the best time. Lauren's house has a pool in the backyard, so the lessons were at her house and our instructor, Miss Laura came there. It was perfect!
Miss Laura is a 'Klassy Kat' at Kansas State, so Kueffer and Lauren's Daddies were a little bummed that the lessons were held in the morning...sorry, boys! :)

Miss Laura was great with the kids and made the lessons so much fun! Kueffer had such a great time at lessons and a bit of playtime and breakfast after each lesson.
Mommy had a great time as well, chatting with Lauren's Mommy each day.

Kueffer LOVES to swim and really has improved over the summer- floating, jumping in, kicking, doing arm strokes and doing bob after bob after bob...well, you get the picture. He is NOT afraid of the water. Fearless AND thinks he's much bigger than he is. He always wanted to do what the 'big boys' at the pool were doing...Let's just say, Mommy did not get to do any relaxing or sunbathing.Lauren with her new 'mermaid' that Kueffer gave to her after their last lesson together

We would go to lessons in the morning and then swim at the pool in the afternoon. (No, he still didn't nap...ugh!) He'd say 'Mommy, let's be fishies!' ...seriously, who could refuse that cuteness? Mommy and K would 'play shark' and chase after each other- the 'shark' would make a fin with their hands and hum the theme from 'Jaws' ...da da da da dadadadadadadad....Yikes!

Monster Pizza

These days Mommy sometimes needs to get a bit creative in order for
Kueffer to get excited about going to the grocery store with her.
Usually this errand is done while K is at PDO, but some days you gotta just do it.
One trick that was used recently was to get Kueffer excited about what we were going to make...Monster Pizza!

We made a list and went shopping- easy, whew! Then back home to make our yummy creation.Started as a Scary Monster

Mommy and Kueffer had a great time making it...

Yesterday Kueffer was 'saving the planet'...or whatever was in our house at 9am and he informed Mommy that 'I'm gonna go save the day for a little bit...you be quiet.' Huh?
Kuefferisms have been in abundance lately and keep cracking Daddy and Mommy up...daily, hourly, minutely?! His imagination is ALIVE to say the least. You just never know who may show up at any given moment-
could be 'Hiku' his imaginary friend,
or a friendly monster,
or Gelfred his dinosaur friend. He is one funny kid.
Yesterday his hair was looking very 'Beiber-ish' so Mommy said 'You're a little Justin Beiber'...He quickly informed me that he's 'Not Justin Beiber, I'm Kueffer!'.Kueffer and his teacher, Miss Kelly

Last week was Kueffer last day EVER in PDO. He has been attending since we was 6 months old (one day every other week) until now. Can't believe that it's been over 2 years since the day Mommy left crying at drop off. This too was a hard day for Mommy (yes, there was a bit of crying again) as they are not going to be going to Country Club this fall. Mommy thinks that Kueffer must have left a bit of an impression with the teachers, directors too...they all came by to say goodbye to Kueffer and asked us to come by and visit. He always had something funny to say to them each day when he walked in the door and was always excited to go there. Country Club was so good to us and we will miss it. :)

1st Dentist Appointment

The milestones are starting at THREE...today, Kueffer had his first visit to the Dentist!
Kueffer and Mommy visited Dr. Smith and, seriously, Kueffer did AWESOME!
Daddy and Mommy prepped him a bit by reading this sweet book that the dentist office had sent describing what the dentist visit would be like for him....Thank you, Dr. Smith!

Kueffer had no problem - walked right in and asked to see Dr. Smith! Jumped right up in the BIG dentist chair, let the dental assistant clean and floss his teeth (no biggee!) and then counted to make sure all of his teeth were there...fyi, he had all 20! ;)

Dr. Smith was so sweet to him and pretty funny- He's been doing this a while, obviously. He said that Kueffer's teeth looked great, healthy and no sign of any decay!
Kueffer left the office with all sorts of goodies- new toothbrush, stickers, toothpaste, toys, etc. and couldn't wait to use his new toothpaste when we got home.
Daddy and Mommy are so proud of their little guy with the 'sparkling chompers'! :)

All About 3!

Kueffer visited Dr. Espe for his 3Year check up last Thursday and it was all about being 3!
He grew so much this past year...
weighing in at 33 lbs (in the 75-90% up from 25% at his 2 year appt!!!)

and is 3ft 3 in tall (90% in height)!

Big Boy Bed!

Last Thursday, Kueffer moved into his BIG BOY BED! He was so excited and slept through the night with no problem. (The Thomas the Train sheets from Aunt Lisa got him even more excited about going to sleep...thanks!) The next morning, he walked upstairs to let us know that it was 'morning time' and he loved his new bed!
It's been almost a week and no problems...he's actually been sleeping much longer each morning. Mommy and Kueffer are still trying to make it on time to Parent's Day Out once this summer! ;)

PS- Daddy did a GREAT job building Kueffer's bed. I know Kueffer thinks it's even more special because his Daddy made it for him.

Branson

Last weekend, Daddy, Kueffer and Mommy went to Branson for a quick and fun filled weekend with family. It was so good seeing Papa and Grandma, Aunt Lisa, Uncle Darryl, Brock and Quinten, Aunt Bobbi, Uncle Clark and Baby Max. Grandma and Papa planned for a fun weekend...and it was a success! :)

We rode the 'Duck' boats and Kueffer LOVED it....he even drove for a bit!

We went to Bass Pro and watched them feed all of the fish.

Kueffer just started soccer on Saturday. He is on a team of 2-3 year olds and, let's be honest, he was the STAR! Actually most of the kiddos were younger or wouldn't leave their parent's side that morning- except for K. :) He really loved singing the songs and practicing the drills. It was the cutest! One of the parents even told us that he was a 'leader' and another said he was 'obviously not shy'! ha!(This is Daddy being the Sleeping Dinosaur in a game that they were playing. K started out as the dino, but then wanted to play!)

After about 1/2 way through practice, Kueffer must have thought that he was ready for some real soccer action and rushed the field of another group actually having a game! He was running and kicking his ball going right for the BIG goal...close behind were Mommy and Daddy chasing him. Lucky for us, we knew some of the parents of the players on the teams he 'crashed'...thanks, Kueffer! :)We all had a fun time and can't wait to see what a soccer star Kueffer will become this summer!

Farm Boy

Kueffer and Mommy went to visit Grandpa Bob and Grandma Mary Ann for a few days this week. It had been a while since we had visited and Kueffer had been saying that he wanted to 'visit the farm' for a while now, so the timing was perfect! It was obvious that it had been a while when he went inside, he complimented Grandma saying 'You have a very nice house, Grandma!'.
Grandpa had a baby calf that he has been bottle feeding, so Kueffer loved watching Papa feed the Molly every morning and at night. (He even helped Papa name her!) Kueffer's cousin, Quinten had just gotten a new horse, so we got to meet her too! Kueffer wasn't too brave with the big horse, but did hold her rope while Mommy petted her.

We had a great time and on our way back to KC,
Kueffer kept saying that he wanted to go back to Grandpa and Grandma's house!

Zoo Fun

We enjoyed a very nice, low key holiday weekend here in KC...just in time for the crazy summer schedule to kick in soon! Mommy was finally feeling 'among the living' after a week of strep (yuck!), so didn't make any big plans and just had fun! On Sunday, we went to the "KC" Zoo for a bit. (Kueffer kept calling it that to not confuse it with the Memphis Zoo!)

It was sooo hot and humid, so we got an early start before the crowd. We waited in line for the zoo train and when we finally made it to the front, Kueffer decided it was potty time...Daddy and K ran so quickly and made it there and back in time for the train! Luckily, the other parents in line understood what we were going through and let us back in our spot. No accidents- yeah, Kueffer!!

Kueffer loves seeing the animals and Mommy and Daddy were amazed by all of the exotic animals he recognized. (Thank you, Dora and Diego for the education during this past week of strep and thunderstorms!) Kueffer and Daddy visiting 'Linda' the llama

Seriously, that should be mommy's new mantra! It's been a long and busy 'school' year and Kueffer isn't even in preschool yet! This explains the lack of posting lately, well that and Kueffer getting the strep and respiratory viruses that have been circulating around lately. :(

Mommy has just finished up a term co chairing a committee and ending President of another group...yippee! We are ready for a fun filled summer...on to 'also participating' status!

There were lots of scary tornadoes in KC today. Thankfully, Grandma Karen called to check on Mommy and Kueffer to make sure that we heard the sirens going off. Between public television kiddie shows and Mommy's head feeling fuzzy from strep, we were not that 'tuned in' to what was going on outside. Luckily, we were already in the basement. Soon after Daddy, Grandma Mary Ann, Aunt Bobbi and Aunt Lisa were calling too. After a quick switch of the television channel, Mommy was teaching Kueffer all about the local weather and tornadoes.
In light of all of the devastation recently from tornadoes in other towns, we were happy to stay downstairs and play it safe.

Springtime is beautiful, but the weather can be very scary. Stay safe and enjoy K's imitation of a tornado! ( Obviously, he had demonstrated this a few times before Mommy actually caught it on film!)

We're Back AND part 2

Okay, so sorry to keep the anticipation growing for the next Easter post...I know that you were all anxious! ;)

We had a wonderful Easter with lots of family and friends. The weather in KC turned out to be perfect and we even hosted a little impromptu egg hunt!

After this past week, it's hard to do much of an Easter recap as it seems sooo far away! This past week, we've been a busy crew! Last weekend we did IT! Kueffer started potty training!!! Exciting stuff for the Dawdy's. Actually, Daddy and Mommy are pretty sure that Kueffer has been ready for a while, just waiting on the 'rents. He has done GREAT! 1 accident the first day and we even ventured out to a family birthday party that night for a bit (brave!). The next couple of days were pretty good, but the last few days he has been perfect! (PLEASE, don't let Mommy be jinxing this!)
We are very proud of our little guy...and he is very proud of himself, as he should be. :)

Yesterday, Kueffer was not acting his fun little self, so Mommy took him to see our fav pediatrician...it's official, K has strep throat! yuck! (Even sick, he's accident free...yay!) Last night he was so exhausted and suffering...BUT today, back to his energetic, inquisitive self! Mommy and Kueffer have been quarantined for the 24 hour period...we are ready to get out! (We did go for a quick drive and saw Grandma Karen :)) ...oh, BTW I had heard that kids with strep would sleep A LOT...where is that kid? Mommy obviously got the little dictator version on strep! ;) So glad that Kueffer is feeling so much better. Dr E. said he be back to 'perfect' for the weekend!

Kueffer's 'Egg-cellent' Adventures- Part I

Whew, Easter weekend was so much fun!
The sugar rush actually started last week with Easter parties at 'school' and LOTS of treats.

Friday afternoon, Kueffer and Mommy dyed eggs...which was interesting with a 2 1/2 year old. He is sooo independent and wanted to do so much of it himself. Being an independent toddler sometimes equals messy toddler, so Kueffer decorated eggs topless! (Mommy had been asking K to 'open his eyes' for the photos...this is a result)

It was really fun until he grew tired of hearing Mommy ask him to stir gently (aka stop spashing all of the dye on the counter top and floor) and not keep trying to taste the dye...nice. My very cooperative assistant...funny guy!

We had a fun time and ended up with some really colorful eggs!Saturday the Dawdy's were all about town at Easter Egg Hunts and a birthday party. Mommy left the house early morning to hide eggs for our mom's group. Kueffer and Daddy skipped that party as K wasn't feeling to well on Friday night. (No, not from tasting egg dye...I hope.)

Kueffer and Mommy have been putting in some major hours at the park lately. We've been waiting a long time this winter to get outside, so we are not missing a minute! One of the parks nearby was totally renovated this past year and this new 'whatever' was added. Kueffer LOVES it! He is so independent and has been playing on it for the past 2 days. He wants NO HELP from his mommy and is so proud of himself each time he goes back and forth. What a big boy!

It was a beautiful weekend and we took advantage of every minute of it and were outside all day, both days! Daddy has been working on making Kueffer's big boy bed. As some of you may know, Daddy has never done anything like this, but he is making an awesome bed!

Tough Stuff!

Kueffer is one tough little cookie! This morning he was playing at Monkey Bizness, an indoor playground, when he decided to perform one of his 'stunt man' moves and roll out of the bounce house. Well, someone decided to move the step and he fell. HARD. Not sure if Mommy or Kueffer was more upset - especially seeing all of the BLOOD! He bit his little tongue on both sides. :( Luckily he got some ice and a lollipop and was feeling better in no time. Whew!

St. Patty's Parade 2011

This year we opted out of walking in the Brookside St. Patty's parade (good decision) and decided to watch it with our neighbors. It was a beautiful day and after Kueffer got over the initial dislike of the noise, he really got into it! Kueffer has a very active imagination. Daddy and Mommy love hearing all of the elaborate stories and characters that he creates.

Floor Picnic

Yesterday afternoon Kueffer wanted a peanut butter sandwich for a snack. He 'helped' me make it and then we decided that we should have a picnic. He had no idea what a picnic was, but was so excited. Floor picnics are fun on a cold day! :)

We've been potty training for a while in the Dawdy house- not 'hard core' and I'm sure if Mommy and Daddy were more motivated, Kueffer would be out of diapers. Today, Kueffer decided that he needed to potty while he was upstairs, so he went to his bathroom and got his 'doughnut' and brought it up. Afterward, he traveled back downstairs. Notice how he put the 'doughnut' on his head so that he could hold his pj bottoms in one hand and hold the railing with the other.
Now that's using your head...ha!

Monday, Kueffer told Mommy some really great stories. He has such an imagination! Finally after about the 3rd story (all different), Mommy remembered to get the camera and capture some of it. ...notice the pleading at the beginning of the video? Don't you love his 'Pwease?'? ha!...Mommy actually got a lot more on video, but had to shorten. K's stories are pretty long winded!
Kueffer is such a funny, sweet and SMART little guy. Mommy and Daddy are always amazed by what he comes up with on a daily basis.
